What is Soccer Heads?
Soccer Heads is a 2D one-on-one physics soccer game released in July 2017. Each match lasts 60 seconds. Whoever scores the most goals wins. The characters are giant cartoon heads representing real UK football clubs, and the whole thing plays like a tabletop foosball machine condensed into a browser window. You cannot stop, dribble or pass in any traditional sense: you just fling your head at the ball and hope it goes in.
Controls for solo and two-player
The control layout splits cleanly between single-player and two-player mode. In two-player, each person takes one side of the keyboard.

Power-ups and stadium effects
Power-ups appear on the pitch during a match and change how the ball behaves when it passes through them. Each stadium also has its own design features that interact with the ball, so the same kick can have very different results depending on where you are playing. This keeps matches from feeling identical even after many games.

Solo vs. two-player modes
In solo mode you face a computer-controlled opponent. The AI moves quickly enough to be a real challenge at higher difficulty levels, so it is a decent way to practice before going head-to-head with a friend. Two-player mode uses a split keyboard setup and is the core experience the game was designed around: two people shouting at a screen, trying to head a ball past each other in under a minute.
Tips for scoring more goals
- Use vertical movement as much as horizontal. Getting above the ball and heading it down is often more powerful than a straight kick.
- Learn the stadium layout before the round starts. Some grounds have slopes that redirect the ball toward your own net if you are not careful.
- When a power-up appears, weigh whether going for it leaves your net open. Sometimes the risk is not worth it.
- Against the AI, fast movement near the opponent's half forces defensive errors more reliably than waiting for a clear shot.
